Remember our yesterday post about the free creative commons techo netlabel Offaudio? Well, today we present another netlabel that releases techno music into the CC community.
Meet thinner. thinner is a German label offering electronic music since 1998 and has accumulated over two million mp3 downloads.
The techno genre, found at thinner, can be described as “dub-inspired” i.e. some permutation of a fusion of dub with house, techno, or even ambient music. Some is defined as “dubby techhouse” or “ntelligent dub”. You’ll find “minimalism” as well, although dub-influences are clearly the predominant inspiration behind the general flavor of the thinner sound.

MyMusicStream is a community for musicians, music lovers and the music industry. At MyMusicstream artist promote themselves and their music, offering free streams and even downloads. Everyone can listen music free.
Each song can be listened to in low-fi (less bandwith) or hi-fi (high quality). When clicked on a popup player appears with song name, genre, artist, location info and a link to the artist’s website. You can become fan of an artist, comment on his/her music, subscribe to his/her mailing list or recommend him/her. There is a lot more, like photo’s, news, videos, shows, widgets …
Music can be searched or browsed by genre. It’s also organized in charts, a featured music list, new music, most played and most downloaded.
RCRD LBL is a network of online record labels and blogs serving up fresh new music downloads!
You can choose between Artists, Labels and Latest menu’s. In Artist there is an alphabetical search, a most recent and a most popular list of artists. Once you choose a release, it can be streamed (listened to), downloaded or shared (via e-mail). Songs can also be embedded on you’re own blog by clicking on the “Embed this track on your site”-link. To do that, you’ll first have to click on a particular song first. Clicking on “blog” lets you see what bloggers write about the song.
Looking for a specific genre? Click on the “genre” button in the menu near the middel of the page. The genres are organized in a tag-cloud like manner.

You can download the music for free provided it is being used for personal, non-commercial use. All music on RCRD LBL is free and legally available for downloading when offered. Some of the music is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license.
betterPropaganda offers 100 percent independent music. The magazine showcases artists from more than 600 independent labels. On betterPropaganda you’ll find thousands of free and legal downloads.
The site is easy to use. Look in the top menu for “find music” and go to the divers music collection pages. Choose between new MP3s, Popular music, artist lists, … I lets you play all the songs on the page by clicking the play link. A player with cover art, similar songs, playlists, … will popup. Or you can download the music.
Don’t know what to pick? Read the many reviews and news items under the “our picks” menu. Interested in what the guys at bP like? Browse the “staff picks”.
If you want to search by genre go to the “find music” menu and choose “most popular”. On the right there is a window listing “other charts”. There is a section for Hip Hop, Rock and Electronic. The “show somilar music” link in the player is particularly handy for browsing the site by genre.
This Hollywood.com fansite offers loads of music, samples, interviews and more on Britney Spears. You’ll find the september interview on z-100, Lenny B remix of Womanizer, remixes of And then we kiss, Babyboy, Bombastic, … Check it out.
Wie geen account heeft bij Rapidshare of Megaupload moet vaak lange tijd wachten alvorens gratis mag gedownload worden. Daarop heeft de plugin Skipscreen voor Firefox een oplossing voor.
De plugin kan de wachttijden omzeilen. Skipscreen werkt met de meeste downloadsites. Kijk voor meer info op de website van Skipscreen.
Op Blentwell.com vonden we een grote collectie DJ mixen onderverdeeld volgens genre. Helaas geen zoekfunctie, maar wel een RSS feed. Wie gefascineerd is van mixen is met deze site wel even zoet.

Van alle diensten die het uitwisselen van grote bestanden mogelijk maken (file sharing) zijn megaupload.com, rapidsahre.com en zShare.com misschien de bekendste, maar ze hebben ook hun beperkingen. Zo zijn de bekendste diensten niet meer 100% gratis, tenminste niet als snelheid belangrijk is. In deze reeks post meld ik alternatieve file sharing, met de nadruk op gratis en snel.
Een eerste is RGhost, gevestigd in Rusland. Deze geheel gratis service, biedt één stream aan onbeperkte snelheid (getest: 3,824 Mbit , (=de volledige ADSL bandbreedte)). De maximale omvang van bestanden is 2 GIGAbyte. Er is een summiere faq. De service heeft geen toeters en bellen.
Op de “main” pagina (de startpagina) staat een tagcloud met populaire downloads.
