Soft Phase is a netlabel that distributes freely downloadable, Creative Commons licensed music on the internet. There’s a wide range of music styles, electronic or acoustic, but the amount of releases is limited.
One of the albums we like most is from Mosaik called “Leandi”. It’s melodic and ambient electronic music with an surprising high quality (to be free). Like the people behind Soft Phase told us, these artists are passionate about their music and it shows.
Mosaik is Swedish. The music has slightly retro styled mood to it, where melodies are the heart of it all, truly faithful to his unique style. And while the surrounding sounds carries a modern edge, all this together makes you wish the atmosphere and the warmth from the songs would remain in the room long time after it has finished playing.

If you are into techno music, you might find this interesting. Offaudio is a Techno netlabel that covers the extensive spectrum of this music style, from “minimal” to “Hardtechno” and publishes releases under Creative Commons License!
Founded in Spain, the netlabel features a lot of Spanish artists. But they are accompanied by artists from Canada, Russia, Japan, Sweden, Germany and even the Netherlands.

betterPropaganda offers 100 percent independent music. The magazine showcases artists from more than 600 independent labels. On betterPropaganda you’ll find thousands of free and legal downloads.
The site is easy to use. Look in the top menu for “find music” and go to the divers music collection pages. Choose between new MP3s, Popular music, artist lists, … I lets you play all the songs on the page by clicking the play link. A player with cover art, similar songs, playlists, … will popup. Or you can download the music.
Don’t know what to pick? Read the many reviews and news items under the “our picks” menu. Interested in what the guys at bP like? Browse the “staff picks”.
If you want to search by genre go to the “find music” menu and choose “most popular”. On the right there is a window listing “other charts”. There is a section for Hip Hop, Rock and Electronic. The “show somilar music” link in the player is particularly handy for browsing the site by genre.
iSound is een online music community (social media) site waar fans, artiesten en labels elkaar kunnen vinden. De site heeft legale muziek van artiesten die (nog) niet verbonden zijn aan een label. Bezoekers van iSound (die zich inschrijven) kunnen de muziek in een playlist bewaren of een eigen muziek-profiel aanmaken of een eigen radio’s uit de grond stampen. Ook andere media zoals video en foto’s kunnen gedeeld worden.
Artiesten krijgen bovendien een eigen sub-site. Van beschermde artiesten is er wel informatie te vinden, maar geen mp3’s. iSound concentreert zich op “unsigned” artiesten, artiesten zonder contract. iSound ondersteunt artiesten in het uitbouwen van hun carriere. De inkomsten van muziek die via iSound te koop is gaat volledig naar de artiesten zelf.

ccMixter is een community site met remixes van muziek onder Creative Commons licentie. Je kan er gratis sampelen, mashups maken of er op gelijk welke andere manier interactief met de muziek omgaan. Je kan er gratis muziek of samples downloaden en er zelfgemaaktje remixen met iedereen delen.
De muziek mag ook op andere sites gebruikt worden, zoals blogs, youtube, enz, zolang het niet voor commerciële doeleinden is.
ElectroSound is netlabel, producing non-profit releases, that can be described as emotional electronic music inspired by various emotional states: from ambient to jazz.
Most artists featured are Russian, except a few European and American ones. The site links trough to the artists website where you can download their full albums.
